Building of Ekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts, located at str. Weiner, 11, was built in 1912 by architect K. Babykin when textiles wholesaler of Ekaterinburg first guild merchant Bardygin decided to open his own shop. It was in this building in 1936 were deployed first exhibition of the newly formed Sverdlovsk art gallery. Here in the Great Patriotic War were kept evacuated from Leningrad unique treasures of the Hermitage. In 1988, the Sverdlovsk Art Gallery received the status of the Museum of Fine Arts, and in 1993, with the return of the city historical name, the museum was renamed Ekaterinburg. In this building of the museum exhibited a collection of Russian avant-garde art of 1910 – 1920 – ies, domestic art 1920 – 1950 – ies, domestic art 1960 – 2000 – ies, and a large exhibition hall of temporary exhibitions.
